Perfectly in line with Petite Friture values, Quasar lamp by Samy Rio is a vibrant and creative design born from the intersection of functionality and the pursuit of a well-balanced form.
Samy Rio spent two years treading the line between craftsmanship and industrial design as he searched for the perfect balance between technical constraints and creating something efficient and useful. Fascinated by circular shapes, his controlled lines give the final piece a sense of purity and quirkiness. In direct reference to astronomy, Quasar (contraction of ‘quasi-stellar’) is the brightest of all celestial bodies.
The Quasar portable lamp is equipped with LEDs and is easy to install, low-energy, and environmentally friendly. Fitted with a dimmer feature, it includes three different light warmth levels. In well balanced proportions, lightweight, made of aluminum, with versatile outdoor and indoor functions. It will give your garden or living room a modern and fresh appearance.
It can be placed on a piece of furniture, on the floor, or even hung from its tie rope. Not only does the rope add a bit of fun to the design, but it also makes it more versatile. Sold already tied in a knot for portable use, the 1-metre-long rope can be undone to hang 50cm below a pergola or other such support. Designed to be used outdoors, the rope is made using UV-resistant and mould-resistant solid polyester.
The Quasar lamp complements Petite Friture's bestselling outdoor collections Week End and Fromme – furniture that is resilient, durable, balanced with fresh, acidic colors, and invites instant relaxation.
Samy Rio is an award winning designer with series of prestigious residencies – such as Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto and the NTCRI in Taiwan – and to collaborate with the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, the CIRVA (International Centre of Glass and Plastic Arts), and the Galerie kreo. Through these different experiences working with glass, ceramics, wood, and bamboo, he has continued to explore the interactions between craftsmanship and industry, tradition and new tools, as a means of analysing the ways we produce objects as much as the objects themselves.
The French brand Petite Friture was founded in 2010 by Amélie du Passage and stands for poetic, sensual design with sophistication and "savoir vivre". The company focuses not only on furniture and lighting, but also on wall design, ceramics and other objects. All these products are created in close collaboration with international designers and young design talents such as Pierre Favresse, Constance Guisset and Tom Chung.
