Parking Pizza has teamed up with Jordi Veciana and Sky Maunsell to design an industrial-chic interior for their new Barcelona location, where the austere beauty of the space is softened by warm wood accents and the inviting scent of pizza, creating a serene yet welcoming atmosphere.
Since its founding in 2015, Parking Pizza has steadily reimagined the pizza dining experience in Barcelona. Known for its quality ingredients, laid-back service, and approachable design, the brand has grown into a celebrated name. Their latest expansion—four new locations across Barcelona and Madrid in 2023 and 2024—marks a refinement of their original concept.
At the heart of the new design is a philosophy of industrial minimalism softened by warmth and texture. The spaces balance raw materials like exposed concrete with natural wood, while thoughtful lighting accentuates the simplicity of the design. A signature feature of the new locations is their large glass facades, creating a seamless connection between the street and the vibrant activity inside.
Central to the experience is the open kitchen, where diners can watch the craft of pizza-making unfold. Communal wooden tables invite a shared dining experience, while the minimalist seating ensures comfort without distraction. The layout—from the placement of ovens to the arrangement of service stations—is meticulously designed to optimize both flow and function, keeping the diner’s experience at the forefront.
Attention to materiality underscores the brand’s ethos of sustainability and sensory comfort. Acoustic treatments reduce the din of a lively restaurant, fostering an environment conducive to conversation. Lighting is carefully calibrated to avoid extremes, creating a cozy yet vibrant ambiance. Each location subtly adapts to its neighborhood, incorporating unique design elements that honor its surroundings while maintaining a cohesive brand identity.
