Dance and Music in Versailles is a minimal space located in Versailles, France, designed by Joly & Loiret.

The building is an extension of Lully-Vauban School Group Creation of Dance Studios and Music Rooms. The architects of Joly & Loiret undertook the task to enlarge the existing building onto the playground’s surface.

The new expressive form contrasts with the surrounding cube-shaped blocks and at the same time blends with them perfectly due to the shade match. The facade, covered with creamy hand-made bricks, fits perfectly with the tone of towering buildings. Large windows on the ground floor, give a view into the heart of the school.

A space that provides reception, area for meeting people, waiting and relaxing. In this way, comings and goings give a look into the interior, and the interactions between the locals are initiated. The inner space in most of the rooms is kept in neutral, warm colors. The only area where vivid color shows up is the lobby with a piece by the artist Marie Maillard. The ceiling covered with her work evokes the nature, the sun, movement of dance and hum of music. On the ground floor, two open rooms are dedicated to practice. This spacious area, overlook the playground and nearby plants. The dance studios, located on the first storey, also gives a view on the playground, via wide window opening coming down to the first floor.
