BIFUR designed by Kebei Li is a minimalistic compact digital scale with built-in timer function.

In its collapsed state, the linear form allows easy storage and handling. When expanded, the two upper arms pivot out to form a tripod platform for receiving items to be weighed. On/Off, tare, unit change, and timer functions can be accessed on the ridge of the main arm. Weight is calculated from inputs of the strain gauge load cells positioned under each of the 3 arms. The simple timer function assists precise coffee brewing procedures and other operations that require time to be tracked.

Kebei Li is an industrial designer based in New York. He draws reference from diverse cultural and disciplinary backgrounds. His works explore the nature of materiality and manufacturing processes, rituals of spectatorship, and re-appropriation of known artifact archetypes. He is interested in the interplay between traditional sensibility and the ever-shifting industrial and consumerism landscape. Kebei earned his MFA in Design from Stanford University, and his BFA in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design.
