22RE debuts BAR di BELLO, a 2,000-square-foot neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Silver Lake, Los Angeles — an open dining hall where Milanese sensibility, material warmth, and Italian modernist furniture arrive at a convivial neighbourhood scale.
The Los Angeles-based design and architecture studio 22RE conceived BAR di BELLO as an evocation of northern Italian dining culture: communal, kinetic, and shaped by daily use. The 2,000-square-foot interior for 40 guests is planned as a single open hall, with a striking red travertine bar at its centre acting as both visual focal point and social hub. A central walnut banquette bisects the space without disrupting its openness, and a kitchen pass is positioned adjacent to the bar to maintain fluid, unobtrusive service circulation.
The material palette is built from contrast and warmth. Deep walnut tones and custom millwork establish familiarity and weight; stainless steel and aluminium accents introduce a refined sharpness — the interplay that characterises 22RE's material-forward approach. Custom tables and seating lend coherence across the room, while marble and stone mosaic flooring adds a layer of historical depth.
Lighting is integral to the atmosphere. A custom grid ceiling punctuated by circular cutouts houses inset Disderot (Olivier Mourgue) fixtures, casting a soft diffused glow. This ambient layer is supplemented by Hans-Agne Jakobsson pendants and bar-top lamps, producing a warm, intimate luminance that calibrates the mood from day to night.
Furnishings draw from the lineage of Italian modernism: sconces by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, chairs by Vico Magistretti. These selections ground the interior within a tradition of disciplined, enduring design without nostalgia. The project marks 22RE's entry into hospitality, extending their residential and retail sensibilities into a space where materiality, patina, and social exchange are the programme. An outdoor space by Sarita Jaccard, developed in collaboration with 22RE, is to debut later in 2026.
