Walter&Walter is a Melbourne-based architecture office established in 2012 by Andrew Walter and Michelle Walter. Aiming to reflect on the possibilities of architecture, the office explores the relationship between tradition, culture, sustainability and context.
As an example of Walter&Walter’s output, we invite you to discover the House A - a building located in Melbourne, composed of a field of rooms that open up and close down in response to the landscape.
The architects aimed to shape the building in a way to mass „focuses the viewers’ attention on the relationship of the house to its environment providing a compelling street presence.” Creating openings in the facade they minimalized territorial boundaries forming a diverse connections and dialogues between neighbouring buildings, landscapes and the inhabited people. Using rough sawn timber for the exterior the house revealed a rare native material quality, often losed while manifacturing.
