Raum is an architectural studio based in Nantes, France. The simple shapes and lines are a recognizable sign of their architectural practice.
The lates project implemented by the team of Raum is titled Maintennance Centre, an antenna of the Ile et Vilaine, a department quipment park of France, located in the region of Brittany in the northwest of the country.
The challenge was to create a dialogue between the new building and its surroundings, the landscape bocage. The final complex, Maintennance Centre, consists of two main buildings. The first one is an activity building, which gathers the administrative functions, supplies shop and motorway workshops, along with a storage building, which provides a covered and protected parking. The whole complex is characterised by clear shapes, with no redundant elements. The architects did a great job in merging both — functionality and pure aesthetics.
