Presented project, House in Balsthal, is a marvellous timber residence, surrounded by greenery. It consists of two principal floors one set 750mm below, another one, 1500mm above the earth. The focal point was to create a good connection with nature, so the large floor-to-ceiling windows were designed to frame the view, while giving the house a light and transparent character.
In the ground floor, the horizontal ceiling is noticeably low, meanwhile the space above
features much higher one. "Whereas the ground floor is about connecting with the visceral nature of the context, the floor above is about observing nature — a more distant and cerebral activity,” added the architect.
