Lullabies For Insomniacs is a record label that evolved out of a radio show hosted by Izabel Caligiore on Melbourne station 106.7 PBS FM. We are delighted to share an obscure musical journey recently recorded by Izabel specially for Thisispaper. Titled Drifting Away, this mix encapsulates the moments before one falls into a deep sleep. This mix is a collection of contemporary compositions with a few darker pieces from the 80’s interspersed.
“I enjoy working with ambient soundscapes, I like the subtle progression and the gentle shifts that occur dynamically. Perhaps these compositions are more harmonious with the lifestyle I would like to live or something along those lines. Included in the mix is the song from my label Lullabies for Insomniacs first release by Japanese musician Sugai Ken, as well as one he composed a few years ago. Ken’s an extremely talented musician who demonstrates a sense of fragility that I rarely come across,” said Izabel.
