In their latest project, titled "Weight of Wood," the talented Danish-Singaporean design duo Christian + Jade have embarked on a remarkable exploration of the intrinsic value of wood and the profound relationship between forests, trees, and human life.

At its core, this immersive learning experience centers around the concept of density, an often-overlooked material property within the realm of design. By examining the 'weight' that wood carries in our daily lives, the designers intend to provoke meaningful reflections on our relationship with the environment and the resources we rely on.

Divided into three sections - "Forest and Wood," "Wood and Wood," and "Wood and Man" - the exhibition takes visitors on a mesmerizing journey. In the first section, intricately crafted objects like rings, leaves, and bark of a tree come to life, emphasizing the interconnectedness of wood as a "living, breathing entity, connected to the life of every other organism on the planet." This exploration highlights the inherent beauty and significance of each tree as a unique individual.

The second section is an ode to the character and strength of wood, featuring visually engaging and interactive forms. Through these displays, Christian and Jade demonstrate the remarkable attributes of different wood types, further deepening our understanding of the diverse qualities that each tree possesses.

The third section showcases the design duo's ingenuity and creativity, presenting three stunning objects: a rocking horse, a seesaw, and a rocking chair - all crafted from Dinesen Oak, Ash, Douglas, and Pine. These masterpieces ingeniously utilize the distinct properties of each wood type to create a dynamic balance of weight in motion. The Rocking Chair and Seesaw, designed as balancing scales, visually convey the varying weights of the different woods. By skillfully using density as the pivot point for the seats and backrests, the designers showcase how the same volume of wood can react differently, creating a mesmerizing visual demonstration of the material's unique characteristics.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the environmental conditions in which wood grows and the importance of fostering a more conscious relationship with natural resources. Through "Weight of Wood," Christian + Jade encourage visitors to engage with the tactile objects, interact with the displays, and develop a profound appreciation for the ubiquitous material that is often taken for granted.

The exhibition, showcased during the esteemed 3days of design event in Copenhagen, delves into the multifaceted world of wood through tactile, balancing objects meticulously crafted from Dinesen wood.
