Designed by Isern Serra, the refurbishment of multidisciplinary practice Six N. Five's Barcelona office creates a new cultural center.
Known for its experimental approach and innovative work, Six N. Five creates digital images, films, and objects. The team's creative ethos is reflected in its revitalized office, which doubles as a public gallery for exhibitions and events. The L-shaped workspace's more conventional areas include a room for talks and presentations, a production workshop, a room dedicated to virtual reality experiences, and a specialty coffee shop. Each of the private spaces connects to a large terrace, a green-lined place for employees to relax and recharge.
Isern Serra's multipurpose space is built upon his craftsmanship-based design concept. The studio removed existing partitions and false ceilings within the concrete structure in order to capitalize on its volume. In order to satisfy Six N. Five's need for diverse programming, the studio added a mezzanine, which efficiently separates the public and private areas; curtains allow staff to control the level of privacy at any given time. The inviting aura is emphasized by earthy tones, tactile materiality, and a well-chosen mix of bespoke and iconic furniture.
