Eons is an ongoing project by Cody Cobb, exploring the entanglement of observer and observed during long periods of solitude in the wilderness of the American West.
For weeks at a time, Cody Cobb wanders the American West alone in order to fully immerse himself in seemingly untouched wilderness. This isolation allows for more sensitive observations of both the external landscape as well as the internal experience of solitude. Through subtle arrangements of light and geometry, the illusion of structure appears as a mystical visage. These portraits of the Earth's surface are an attempt to capture the emotion of the land as much as the topography.
“My photography of the land is a way for me to observe and capture both external and internal experiences” Cody says about his practice.
Cody Cobb is an American photographer, hiker and explorer whose photography attempts to capture portraits of the Earth’s surface devoid of human interaction and interference. Searching for seemingly untouched nature, Cobb’s focus has mostly been on the American West, working in both film and digital to capture brief moments of stillness from the chaos of nature and carefully composing with natural light.
