Entreplanta is a collaborative project implemented by an architect Cito Ballesta and a product designer Marta Ayala Herrera, both based in Madrid.
This furniture collection consists of a large table and two benches which are alike, designed for La Casa Encendida, a social and cultural centre promoting solidarity, arts, environment and education in Madrid. "With an open and dynamic nature, La Casa Encendida showcases the most avant-garde artistic expressions and offers various courses and workshops. From its startup, it has propelled young creators to further their initiatives,” said Marta Ayala Herrera.
Entreplanta, the outcome of the fruitful collaboration between Cito and Marta, perfectly meets the needs of La Casa Encendida. It creates a meeting point, revitalises a disused space of the venue and ensures respect for the environment. While choosing the materials, designers had to take into account the values of La Casa Encendida organisation. To maximise the utilisation and avoid the waste during the fabrication, MDF was chosen as the main material. The shape of the furniture was inspired by geometrical language and the relationship between human and his environment.
