Nestled within a charming corner plot in the serene town of Esher, Surrey, Butterfly House stands as a remarkable testament to innovative design by Oliver Leech Architects, addressing the ever-evolving concept of multigenerational living.

Its distinctive form gracefully follows the contours of its intimate triangular site. Comprising four pitched structures, strategically fanned out to capture panoramic vistas while safeguarding seclusion, the dwelling is a masterful symphony of aesthetics and purpose.

A true spectacle is the iconic inverted 'butterfly' roof, elegantly showcased in the heart of the open living space. This architectural marvel not only provides a focal point but also infuses the interior with an abundance of natural light. Exposed larch beams traverse the ceiling, lending an organic rhythm to the space. They create a dance between intimacy and openness, weaving a narrative that is uniquely Butterfly House.

Externally, the burnt Japanese timber cladding acts as a harmonious intermediary between the structure and the organic landscape. This deliberate choice of material orchestrates a serene dialogue between the dwelling and the surrounding natural beauty. It's an invitation to a seamless coexistence.

Inside, a neutral palette envelops the living spaces, reminiscent of understated elegance. Soft tones create a canvas for mindful living, allowing the architecture to breathe and the soul to find solace. The design choices celebrate simplicity, fostering a sense of calm that mirrors the tranquil embrace of the natural world.

As daylight filters through the exposed larch beams, it paints ever-changing patterns on the canvas of the interior, embodying the gentle ebb and flow of time. The neutral tones invite contemplation and reflection, seamlessly blending the boundaries between outside and in.

Butterfly House is more than a dwelling; it's a thoughtful composition that celebrates the delicate equilibrium between architecture and nature, between form and function. In its tranquil embrace, one finds not just a physical space, but a serene sanctuary for the soul—a testament to the art of mindful living.
