The new cottage by Söderberg Söderberg was built with a great respect to the previous one - a typical Swedish soldier’s cottage from the mid-nineteenth century - which was completely removed due to rot in construction.

The ground floor maintains the original’s ceiling height, and now with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass pocket doors recessed into deep niches, the space remains calming with a view opening straight to the wild surrounding nature. The hearth of the floor is the open fireplace which was built from handmade bricks.

The freestanding stainless-steel kitchen’s separate parts can be linked across the doorway by drop-leafs. Additionally the hood over the fireplace hides a stair to the upper level - an airy space with built-in bed alcoves and sliding windows at floor level for views while seated or lying.
