Bold Stool by Ming Design Studio is a simple modern stool that showcases different lacquering techniques.
The studio became fascinated by an ancient natural material-lacquer on a residential trip. The designers wanted to revive this traditional craftsmanship, unveil its unique beauty to bigger audiences, and elevates its art value. They have created a simple modern seamless-mono shaped stool, balanced it with a sophisticated curvature transition that can maximumly showcase the various beauty that different lacquering technique creates. Many experiments were done, after overcoming this huge challenge of lacquering on this controlled organic shape, Bold Stool was born.
