The 'BB collection' by Corpus Studio combines playful creativity and sculptural refinement, drawing inspiration from Brigitte Bardot's sensuality and Babybel cheese's tactile charm to create functional, striking designs through the poetic assembly of modular components.
The BB chair showcases the studio’s commitment to material experimentation and conceptual elegance. A single aluminum wheel—a fundamental structural form—is divided, cast, and reassembled into a chair that is both aesthetically bold and ergonomically supportive. The chair’s back is subtly cradled by its curved nape, ensuring comfort.
Each of the six chair limbs is crafted using sand casting, where a hand-carved wooden mold produces resin negatives. Molten aluminum is poured into these negatives six times to create the repeating elements, reinforcing repetition as both a practical and poetic motif. The result is a chair that balances opposites: minimal and maximal, brutalist and glamorous, sensual and witty.
Like the chair, the BB coffee table uses repetition and raw materiality to striking effect. Four cast aluminum shells form a base that doubles as discreet storage, topped by a minimalist tabletop. Visible casting marks highlight the manufacturing process, while polished edges refine its sculptural presence, making it a standout functional object.
Paris-based Corpus Studio, founded by Konrad Steffensen and Ronan Le Grand, bridges architecture, interiors, and design with a multidisciplinary approach. Known for blending practicality with emotive design, the studio plays with materiality, light, and form to create environments and objects that are both functional and artistic.
