Paris-based photographer Elliott Verdier spent four months in Kyrgyzstan, creating a visual narration on the outskirts of global headlines with a large format camera, through faces and landscapes.
Project A Shaded Path is an attempt to highlight the generational disparities between those nostalgic of an abolished USSR order and modern westernized youths born after the fall.
It shows a striking resemblance between these two worlds, and at the same time, the astonishing distance between them."It covers the trials of a young, woebegone country struggling to simultaneously form a national identity and keep apace with a global economy. Relics of a past era mingle with the faces of a population frozen in transition,” shared Elliott.
