Residence Villeneuve is the latest project implemented by Montreal-based architectural practice Atelier Barda.
The challenge was to transform a commercial space into a single-family residence. ”The entire redesign was guided by two complementary themes: a play between seen and unseen and cinematographic framing.
The former storefront windows were conserved, not only to let in light, butalso, importantly, to create an ambivalence between what is shown and hidden,” shared the architects. Classical wooden floor laid in a herringbone pattern gives a space romantic character. Accompanied by white walls and furniture held in minimal aesthetics, the whole space perfectly reveals the building’s essence.
