Alec Soth is a photographer based in Minnesota, USA. He is a founder of Little Brown Mushroom, a small arts institution committed to experimenting with new ways of creating and distributing visual stories.
Presented below is Alec’s project titled Songbook. It is an attempt to raise the curtains on the ever-present loneliness of today’s society. Exploring modern America, Alec captured moments in which one may feel isolated and alienated.
It may be said that Songbook photographically presents the past and present of American culture around the constantly tormenting issue of the individual towards society. The final body of work, which was closed in a fine book, invites the viewer to contemplate on today’s loneliness in a poetic way.
