Robert Kastelic and Kelly Buffey devoted their professional careers to the art of architecture, once establishing their own creative office - AKB . Operating from the HQ in Toronto, Canada, the studio aims to conceive „a quiet simplicity through a rigorous process and commitment to conceptual intent.”
Clearview Chalet, a hut blended into a slope of Nottawasaga Bay, Canada consists of a single alluring space to exist and invites one to be amazed by immensity of the landscape framed by wooden core of the building.
As the team of AKB describes: „The design was foremost driven by its tight budget, condensed construction schedule and request for minimal maintenance. This emphasis on practicality and economy of means led to a single volume structure clad in board and batten with a low pitched overhung metal roof, forming a simple black object upon the snow blanketed landscape.” Through praising modesty and drawing from limitation, Robert and Kelly together with associated architects, managed to bring value from deficiency. The work to appreciate.
