Moonland by Yuri Andries

The hard land and extreme climate—combined with centuries of isolation—have shaped the people of Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas into a peaceful, tempered existence.

The peaceful coexistence between the people and the land is evident in Yuri Andries’s images that are both intimate and epic. The people here are always contextualised within the larger-than-life landscapes of the Himalayas, using renewable energy in the harshest of winters, relying on their animals for livelihood.
