We keep an eye on the Genève-based Lacroix Chessex Architects' doings, thus we share with our audience their modest Villa Sandmeier, a living space inspired by a Japanese pavilion.

The villa sits at the corner of a residential area facing splendid rural landscape along the foot of the Salève in Geneva, Switzerland. „The project was devised as a habitable structure rather than as a strong form,” the team of Lacroix Chessex Architects refer.

Inspired by a pavilion in a Japanese garden, Villa Sandmeier, has has three stacked, reinforced concrete raised platforms supported by panels of varying sizes and positions. „By slightly raising the ground floor, it creates a poetic relationship with the garden, while at the same time giving the house a monumental character,” the architects add.
