Upcoming Taiwanese fashion designer Wei Hung Chen recently graduated from prestigious New-York-based Parsons School of Design. He is mostly interested in topics related to overproduction in the fashion industry.
His Thesis Collection represents his critical point of view on fashion design and thoroughly responds to the needs of modern times. Through searching for the new methods of utilizing garments and reformulating them, the designer created a set of modular items.
All pieces were shaped to match each other. They can be used and mixed together with no obstacles as each garment can be worn during the whole year despite the weather, occasion, and trends. The collection is a representation of Wei Hung Chen’s ecological and practical approach to design.
Influenced by studying at Parsons, Wei Hung Chen deeply analyses the construction of each garment and shapes it in a way which prolongs its life. “All the pieces in the editorial can interact and attach to each other to create new looks, hence the interaction between the models and linking them together using the extended panels/components. Indicating a variety of possibilities the garments can look”, added the designer.
