Richard Page is a Manchester-based photographer, who graduated with an MA in Photographic Studies from the University of Westminster, London. Besides his artistic practice, he currently works at Manchester Metropolitan University, as a Programme Director of BA Photography.
Richard enjoys to investigate how space is implicitly bound up with history, memory, and explores the psychological relationship between human and the surroundings. For the project, The Dialogue of the Dogs, Richard took off on a journey around Spain, documenting a country struggling to recover from economic disaster.
Inspired by Cervantes and Velázquez, he paid attention to the cultural, political and economic landscape of central Spain, capturing depict poignant locations relevant to Spain today, such as; unoccupied newly built towns, the deserted airport of Ciudad Real, the former site of Expo ‘92 in Seville, and the imposing Valle de los Caídos. It depicts a fight for lofty goals, devoid of a realistic sense, what may expose it ridiculous.
The final body of work is currently exhibited at Francesca Maffeo Gallery, an independent photography gallery situated in Great Britain. It is on view until 25th February, 2017.
