Project Projects is a New York City-based graphic design studio established in 2004. In their practice, they focus on print applications, web design, identity development, curating exhibitions, and books.
Publications created in their studio merge rare design and clear content. Each time, they work in close collaboration with publishers and artists to create the individual and practical item. Elephant Child was published this year after close collaboration with Project Projects and Inventory Press for French artist Camille Henrot.
Elephant Child is a summary of a three-year odyssey, which started in 2013 when Camille Henrot received an Artist Research Fellowship at the Smithsonian Institution. The book is an assemblage of research materials, fragments of photographs, sketches, images of sculptures, video stills, reference texts and documents from the Pale Fox exhibition.
The whole book design is rather simple, as the content is vivid and varied. Colorful pieces are juxtaposed with straightforward and clean text. Inspired by the collage method and Camille’s works, these designers created a striking and compelling book.
