We really appreciate the mix between traditional and contemporary design, so no wonder, we are keen followers of Pedro Ferreira Architecture Studio, whose projects are a great example of this connection.
Presented below, Casa dos Patios, is an eighteenth-century urban villa, located in one of the most charismatic streets of the city centre in Porto. The team of Pedro Ferreira Architecture Studio took a challenge to refurbish the building with a rich past. It used serve for various purposes, such as housing, and even worked as a school. Later on, it was in a state of pre-ruin for decades.
The architects gave a new life to the abandoned building and created there a set of eleven apartments and shops, keeping all the structure and spatial concept of the preexistence. Formal baroque organisation served as a starting point for the definition of the project. "The interior space creates a peaceful dialogue between the past and the present, reflected in contained and elegant spaces, enriched by the sunlight variation,” added the architects.
