Pettersen&Hein is a design studio found by Magnus Pettersen and Lea Hein. Thanks to its outstanding approach to design, it was awarded by Bo Bedre Norway Designaward as a “Crafts of the Year 2016” and nominated for “Fast Forward 2016” by Architectural Digest.
With it’s headquarters in Copenhagen, the designers dwell into the possibilities of using concrete and steel in most outsized way. In their practice, they merge sculpture and art. They investigate what happens, when art operates out of a function parameter and design is a mere sculptural presence in a room.
Through those explorations, they create objects of utility, which amaze with its pure artistic features. They mainly focus on working with two materials only, concrete and steel.
To this basic materials, Magnus and Lea add various polychrome surfaces, creating organic textures. Even with this narrow range of materials, every piece is individual and unique. The designers constantly redefine typical industrial materials and transform them into object on the edge of design and art.
