Pablo Pita is a Porto-based architectural practice, led by Pablo Rebelo and Pedro Pita. It was established in 2010, since when they have been inspiring each other, while seeking the balance between the strong-conceptual approach and the filigreed intervention that any site demands.
Presented project Casa Quinze de Novembro is a single-family house refurbishment, located in Porto, Portugal. Inspired by the Brazilian immigration movement in the nineteenth century, the team of Pablo Pita created a dwell set in modest example of Brazilian house.
"Modest because of its reduced scale, nevertheless it displays some of the exotic mannerisms that were common in its typology. These houses were rooted to an affirmative attitude with the clear objective to be distinguished. The columns, the nature-themed tiles, the organic gates and bright color were left intact, as the original with all its idiosyncrasies,” explained the architects.
The aim was to make the intervention as little as possible. However, the architects adapted a few contemporary elements, such as minimal white closets, connected to the wooden doors and frames, which were mostly brought back by restoring.
