OK-RM, a London-based graphic design studio, has gained recognition through its exquisite projects from preeminent arts institutions, including The Met, Guggenheim in New York and British Pavilion in Venice.
Presented body of work, titled Manus x Machina is a publication designed by the team of OK-RM for The Costume Institute’s spring 2016 exhibition ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology’. The exhibit is a review through styles of dress, starting from haute couture, throughout industrial manufacturing to recent technological advancements, such as 3D printing and many others.
The process of designing was realised in close cooperation between the team of OK-RM, curator Andrew Bolton and The MET design team led by Susan Sellers.
Design of the book is an attempt to find the meeting point between both, crafts and innovations. As the designers explain: “The book is a hybrid borrowing from both museological and technological influences, including archetypical cataloguing principles and classically set typography with hi-tech printing, finishing and materiality.”
