Mark Hartman, a photographer based in Brooklyn, New York works on both commercial and personal projects. We are pleased to present his latest photo series with the melancholic Coney Island in the background.
Mark chose Coney Island as a setting of his series, yet he didn’t attempt to pay tribute to the island itself.
He rather took an advantage of its natural features — sky, sand and water, which make the scenery unspecified. On this area, devoid of symbolism, Mark portrayed the local people attempting to transfer his own feelings through the pictures. The series with the simple title Island, serves a visual narrative of the artist’s personal story, yet it can be perceived as a universal representation of human being and his inseparable relationship with culture.
