Copenhagen-based designer Maria Bruun received her MA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2012. Later on, she established her own design studio, named Maria Bruun Design.
Central to her work is the the question, "What makes some designs more desirable than others?” By examining the material, Maria is able to combine a soft and intuitive approach with hands-on design.
Presented project, titled Bigfoot Furniture, is a collection of five tables in solid ash wood. The choice to design a series of objects, instead of one, resulted from Maria’s terminology, that each idea is flexible in scale, variation and function. Although, every object has a different shape, they have a prominent common feature — rounded corners finishing. And besides the appealing function of this detail, from a psychological point of view, it creates warm and safe atmosphere. Therefore, it may be treated as one of the answers to the question posed at the beginning.
