American photographer Kelia Anne Maccluskey completed a project named The Theory of the Young-Girl. We featured Kelia’s paradisal photographs before and we are thrilled to post this new extension to the series.
Fascinated by the way adolescents live, Kelia continues to explore the contemporary youth culture even more into the depths. The presented photo series The Theory of the Young-Girl provides an insight into the complicated transitional stage of juvenility.
The time full of doubts, pastimes, and desires which often come from external factors. Media all over the world spreads the same stories about being young, falling in love, realizing of one's own appearance and sexuality while even children come from different backgrounds, are still often divided by different political and social backgrounds of their parents. "There is a cultural association between beauty, youth, innocence, and being a young girl. There are also certain cultural expectations for the experience of being a young girl that resemble a passage or coming of age,” shared her thoughts Kelia.
