Jean Verville is an architect based in Montréal, Canada. After receiving his PhD in Arts Studies and Practice from University of Quebec, Jean joined university teaching in addition to his architectural practice and researches.
His interest lies in the possibilities of hybridization between arts and architecture, along with their impact on the architectural process.
Presented project, titled IN 3, is an incredible answer to decompartmentalization of artistic disciplines — incorporating art, architecture and domesticity.
It proposes an architectural installation juggling with excesses and exuberance while retaining its signature of minimalism. The space contains remarkable elements made of sumptuous golden brass, combined with concrete and white stones. Although, the space features rooms such as kitchen, or the bathroom, one cannot leave with direct answer, whether it’s an apartment, installation or just temporary theatrical room. Either way, one is for sure, it’s phenomenal and doubtlessly breaks the usual patterns of domesticity.
