A photographer, a mathematician with a diploma from Harvard University, a trader on Wall Street and Polish national swimming champion. These are the titles of super versatile Pole based in New York - Jan Cieślikiewicz.
Apart from Jan's comprehensive activities, we aim to approximate below his photographic practice.
He gained education in photography at International Center of Photography in New York and International Summer School of Photography masterclass in Latvia. We give on a display selected pictures of his two series, Null Hypothesis and Untitled, which reflect on natural human need for a rational explanation, predictability and certainty. Rejecting those necessities, Jan uses photography as a medium to search for the underlying mystery, the absurd and the ambiguity hidden under seemingly ordered reality.
