Design Academy Eindhoven gradually educates captivating designers with an innovative approach to design. Charlotte Pommet and Elliot Kendall with their collaborative project titled 'Per Meter’ proved they are one of them.
While working on the project, Charlotte and Elliot were exploring veneer, a timber material used as a coverage, a cheaper replacement of wood. They thoroughly analyzed the potential of this substitute, what leaded into a deep search for unconventional and more honest way of its use.
As they explain, through the study, they developed ‘a forming technique that relies on the properties intrinsic to each species and grain pattern.’ Over the laminating a little amount of veneer, they managed to get an appropriate volume and strength of each piece. Final objects are lightweight and define with the wide possibility of the use and compilation. They describe it as a modules which ‘come together fulfilling infinite possibilities of designs and applications.’
