American photographer Dana Marks earned her Bachelor’s degree in Photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She is currently is based in Milwaukee, where she explores different aspects of life, through the medium of photography.
The collection of pictures, included in presented ongoing project is a re-exploration of the area located in Milwaukee, called Jones Island, where one can find the road salt storage facilities and also the water reclamation plant of the city.
Although this project doesn’t have a name yet, it is not exactly needed to grasp the essence of this ongoing series. The artist started the project years ago, but after considering the mission unsuccessful, she took a long break.
After a period of time, Dana has gained a fresh approach to view the scenery and satisfyingly found the exact sentiment, she was looking for. Contemplating the pictures, that have been created, the viewer can get a feeling of loneliness and desolation. Jones Island serves as a perfect spot to catch the bleak atmosphere of a void city, obtained by mindful examination of its spirit.
