We still continue to bring, the creation of brilliant Corpo Atelier, to our readers. After the presentation of their furniture design and architectural projects, we introduce their work in the field of interior design — a refurbishment of a single house in Sernancelhe, Portugal.
The architects of Corpo Atelier filled the inside of the remaining stone walls of an ancient rural house with the wood simple structure. The new construction emphasizes the volumetric potential of the building and contrasts due to its pure whiteness with the stone thick walls.
As desbribed by the Corpo Atelier this newly incorpoated box "opens to the sky" and "encloses a volume that is no longer divided in two levels".
„The habitable areas then occupy the interstices of this clearly defined geometry of wood pillars and beams. Private spaces that require enclosure and intimacy - such as bedrooms and bathrooms - take place in three independent volumes embedded in the structure, hanging from the roof. The social areas occur at the groundfloor, organized around the pillars, emphasizing a sense of functional and visual continuity,” the architects comment.
