As we are keen followers of ARQUITECTURA-G ’s doings for quite a long time, we encourage you to discover another splendid project of this unrepeatable Barcelona-based architectural studio, completed in La Tallada, Girona.
This time the architects of ARQUITECTURA-G took a challenge to gave a new life to a country house located in a small village of Empordà. The architects renewed facades of the building, paying respect to the original window openings characteristic for common typology in many houses of the town. They interpreted this pattern and repeated it in a modern form throughout the whole building. Hereby new window's frames create intriguing architectural dialogue with old walls.
As the building underwent many renovations in the past, its appearance was characterised by a peculiar turret. The architects decided to take an advantage of this atypical aspect and base project of interiors on this accented vertical direction. Thus just after crossing the threshold of the house, one encounters spectacular stairs covered with red ceramic tiles. Reaching the mezzanine, where living spaces rooms are located, one goes through round white stairs to the top floor occupied by spectacular swimming pool.
The interiors are characterised by intriguing merger of calming white and juicy shades of red. Combined with historic facades and ceiling as well as distinctive for ARQUITECTURA-G, simple geometric furnishings, the space is at same time stimulating and soothing, historical yet modern.
