Swedish-Chilean contemporary designer Anton Alvarez studied cabinetmaking before accomplishing an Interior Architecture and Furniture Design course at the largest university of arts, crafts and design in Sweden called Konstfack. He is a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art and currently resides in Stockholm.
Inspired by his fascination with the design of systems and machines, which produce objects, Anton Alvarez started to take on new challenges in the area of ceramics in 2015.
The visually exceptional sculptural series, titled Alphabet Aerobics, features objects created by a remote controlled machine, built by the artist himself, called The Extruder.
By creating the series, Anton Alvarez is blurring the boundaries of the sculpture making process, while also conceptually posing the questions of the importance of the artist by removing himself from the close process of the creation. The visually captivating objects are a celebration of fresh approach to contemporaneity, meanwhile their thought provoking nature gives us something to absorb and analyze.
