Hungarian photographer Ákos Major was born in Budapest and studied graphic design at Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design. We have featured his beautiful work before and this time, we would like to present his ongoing project, titled Prospect, extended with the most recent photographs added to the series, which have never been published before.
The whole body of work consists of photographs taken during the artist’s travels through multiple states in America such as NY, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, California, Utah, Arizona and Nevada, created between 2014 and 2016.
As his main tool for creation, Ákos uses mostly medium format analogue cameras and Kodak color negatives, hence the unbelievable color harmony, which takes over the series.
The artist captures the must-see places with distanced, yet still close approach, but also chooses the common objects as his subjects, turning his camera away from the attractions displaying the mundane. He finds challenging to photograph the over-photographed topics and the countryside. Thanks to his distinctive style and deliberate compositions, one can find the beauty in the everyday moments through these his explorations.
